Railway Double Tracking: Ipoh – Padang Besar
Appointed by MMC-Gamuda JV as the specialist geotechnical consultant to undertake the detailed design and construction supervision of a 55km section between Ipoh to Kuala Kangsar. Various geotechnical designs through different geological features including subsoil investigation, ground improvements including soft ground treatment, USM removal and replacement, embankment surcharging, prefabricated vertical drains, reinforced geotextile, stone column, piled embankment, retaining walls, rock slopes, slope stability modeling and settlement analysis. |
Deep Basements.
In most of the building projects carried out by T&T, specialist input on Geotechnical engineering is provided in the retention systems and foundations. |
BASF Gebeng
This project involved the conversion of a peat swamp area to a high-grade building platform for petrochemical industry. Completed in 2003 after 2 years of close supervision to strict specifications, the 300 acre site requires extensive earthworks with ground treatment. |

Bandar Wawasan
A RM600 million development in the heart of Kuala Lumpur providing a fully integrated development of office, hotel, condominium, plaza and theme park facilities. The 8 acre basement work was the biggest excavation in KL at the time. The challenge was in dealing with a river diversion through the middle of the site, and the foundation works on karstic limestone. |
Petronas CIMMS
Earthworks and ground treatment of a peat swamp area for a Petrochemical complex in Gebeng. |
Petronas Gas Slope Repair
Slope stabilization works using soil nailing of a major failure along the critical gas pipeline reserve in Melaka. |
Tanjung Bin Reclamation
T&TK were engaged by EPC/Civil contractor for the site preparation and soil improvement works for this major reclamation work for the proposed Tanjung Bin Power Station in Johor. The installation of vertical drains for ground treatment was one of the largest in the world at 22,000 km total length. The project was completed in 2005. |
Putra LRT Cut and Cover
Alternative design for the cut and cover tunnels for the section of LRT II between Central Market and Benteng Station in Kuala Lumpur. Work also included instrumentation, monitoring, and construction overview. |
West Port Expansion
T&TK’s geotechnical engineers were responsible for the detailed design for the reclamation, revetment and ground improvement works of a 340-hectare reclamation. The natural ground conditions under the proposed reclamation were challenging as they comprised soft marine and alluvial deposits in excess of 100m. |
West Rail, Hong Kong
T&TK was involved in the foundation design of 10 km of elevated railway viaducts. The foundations were constructed in varied and complex geological conditions and designed to carry significant lateral and vertical loads utilising large diameter end bearing bored piles, bored soil, rock friction piles and pre-bored H-piles. |
Nam Cheong Station, Hong Kong
T&T were responsible for all geotechnical aspects of the alternative design for the underground station that was constructed under and around live railway lines without disruption. The HK$2.2billion station was completed in 2003 and the extremely challenging geotechnical work received high commendation from the British Construction Industry Awards 2004. |
Saigon Metropoitan Tower, Vietnam
Situated at the corner of Nguyen Du and Dong Khoi Streets, the 16-storey Saigon Metropolitan Tower is arguably Vietnam’s most beautiful office tower. The building contains a four-storey office podium and ground floor retail space, two levels of underground parking, and offer 29,000 square metres of prime office space.
The building structure consists of a 15 metre deep diaphragm wall with a two metre thick raft slab, conventional reinforced concrete slabs for the basement to level one, and combination post tensioned beam and reinforced concrete slabs for levels two to 16. |
LRT II Geotechnical Management Systems
Development of the sophisticated data archiving and retrieval system for all soils data along the LRT alignment. System is capable of developing Soil Models for foundation design including treatment of soft soils and information systems for tunnel engineering. The software was also used for data archiving during construction and forms the core of the LRT II GIS System. |
KCRC West Rail Hong Kong, Tin Shui Wai to Tuan Mun North
Detailed design and construction supervision for alternative construction approach. Involved alignment design, viaducts and at grade sections and foundation works. |
Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill
Design and construction supervision of a large-scale sanitary landfill serving Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Covers an area of 25 ha, with a design capacity of 4 million cu.m in 12 sub-cells. Engineered by T&T Konsult to international standards, the landfill incorporates a state-of-the-art leachate collection and treatment system. The project won the IEM Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2008. |
West Coast Expressway
Carried out Geotechnical and Engineering study in the area of the North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest. The objective was to resolve the technical requirements of constructing a major highway through difficult ground conditions and optimizing the alignment, bridges, embankments and drainage works.
